Violation of the political rights of female authorities at the municipal level
The presence and leadership of women in the political arena generated a social and structural phenomenon that weighs on them and that manifests itself through actions of harassment and political violence, which is exercised in different ways, affecting the normal exercise of their functions and, therefore, their exercise as leaders.
The Plurinational State of Bolivia has made significant progress in implementing regulations aimed at guaranteeing a life free of violence for women in our country; however, the human rights of women in political exercise continue to be violated. At the same time, certain institutions named by law to attend to these cases are not adequately defending them, due to different factors such as: the overloaded procedural work and the lack of specific knowledge for the defense of these rights.
