Political communication and speech preparation

In this workshop, the importance of communication in politics and women's leadership will be addressed, through the following work program:

• Specific challenges facing women in public speaking.
• How to build an inclusive and empowering narrative.
• Knowing your audience and defining your message
• Identification of the electorate and its needs.
• How to adapt the message to different audiences.
• Use of stories and personal experiences to connect emotionally.
• Public Speaking and Communication Techniques
• Verbal and non-verbal expression techniques.
• Use of voice, pauses, emphasis and body language.
• How to convey confidence and credibility.
• Construction of Political Discourses.
• Basic structure of a speech: introduction, development and closing.
• Practical workshop: preparation of a short speech.

The workshop will be developed through a participatory methodology and a feminist and intersectional approach.

It is proposed that the participants have spaces for collective reflection and for the identification of useful tools that favor a broader and more inclusive electoral process. The workshop aims to be a space of provocation, which allows overcoming difficulties related to the elaboration of political discourse, confronting gender-based political violence and promoting concrete advocacy actions in favor of women's political rights.

The workshop will be facilitated by:

• Cecilia Terrazas Ruiz and Carmen Tavera Valdivieso, experts in social communication, gender and public policies. Both have advanced studies in human rights and have extensive experience in gender analysis and women's rights.
